Its hard not to fall in love with Cape breton island…

In the year 2000, Earlene Busch ordered a set of curly maple furniture handcrafted by Bob Lambie of the Dovetail Shop near Margaree. Her journey to pick this set up and vacation in Cape Breton quickly became a mission to find a way to live in this beautiful place. She found 100 acres of wild land with nothing but an old barn on the top of a Brae overlooking the North River. It was covered in chanterelles and well used by wildlife. Earlene had to find a way to honor its pristine nature while bringing to life the dream of a restaurant and a place for people to stay.

The barn inspired many things, including the design of the Inn. Rustic on the outside, welcoming and comfortable inside. The Inn is trimmed with the recycled Hemlock boards from that old barn - originally built in 1912.

Today the Chanterelle Restaurant and Inn is owned by Bettina & Holger Hartenstein.
