Refined Regional Cusine on the Cabot Trail  (Reservations strongly advised)

Cape Breton's culinary ingredients are truly second to none. The restaurant at the Chanterelle takes advantage of its amazing variety of meats, seafood, cheeses, fruit, produce and wines to serve a refined regional cuisine. In 2008, the restaurant was awarded the  Local Food Heroes Recognition by the Restaurant Association of Nova Scotia. In 2006, the restaurant was also named to the prestigious 500 Best Places to Eat in Canada, Canada's national restaurant guide.

Owner and Chef, Earlene Busch, was one of 27 Canadian chefs selected to attend Terra Madre in Turin, Italy in 2008, was invited to the Saltscape's Chefs' Competition and in 2011 to the "Right Some Good" culinary event. She holds certification from the Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Boulder and the Market Street Culinary School in Denver.

Dinner is served every evening in the Chanterelle's elegant dining room or on the screened verandah between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. On ceilidh nights, we start dinner at 5:30. The menu changes nightly depending on what is fresh. However, we always offer a vegetarian, non-vegetarian and seafood entree with seasonal vegetables and freshly baked artisan bread. Inn & Cottage guests are giving preferential seating.  Outside guests are also welcome with advance reservations.

Main course prices range from $20 to $28. Soup, salad, dessert, and coffee or tea are served a la carte. Guests can choose to have two, three, or four courses.

A four-course dinner is offered prix-fixe for $38 (vegetarian) or $45 (seafood and non-vegetarian). Every effort is made to accommodate special dietary requirements. Guests are asked to let us know of such requirements in advance.

The dining room features a fully licensed bar, offering a variety of organically grown and non-organic wines, with an emphasis on those produced in Nova Scotia. We also serve mixed drinks, domestic and imported beers an offer an extensive collection of single malt scotches .
